Reviews of Spiritual Formation Books

A bookstore provided reviews of a bevy of spiritual formation books on a blog recently.  I haven’t read a single one of them, so I can’t say much about them, but some of the reviews are at least a little intriguing.  Gary Thomas isn’t always tremendously profound, but he’s still got some good things to say, and the Spiritual Life anthology might be rather interesting to peruse different perspectives.  Others… well, John Ortberg and John Piper, while having good things to say, are more types I expect to find in “Christian Living” than spiritual formation and feel either too light or too heady, but again, I haven’t read these particular books.  So if you’re looking for something to read, Hearts and Minds Books might have some suggestions for you.
